The Independent Schools Foundation Academy (The ISF Academy) opened under the leadership of the Founding Board, chaired by Professor Sir Charles Kao, the 2009 winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics. Professor Sir Charles Kao’s motto for the Academy was “Learning, Learning, Learning.” His view of education, that each learner is perfectible and that education is a process of growth, experimentation and change, inspires the Academy’s vision and practice today.
Commencing in August 2003, The ISF Academy has grown into an internationally accredited International Baccalaureate (IB) World School with over 2,100 students from Foundation Year (pre Grade 1) to Grade 12. Being a non-profit, co-educational, independent, Chinese school, The ISF Academy offers a Chinese (Putonghua) and English bilingual immersion education.
The ISF Academy aims to educate students to be a community of learners, independent in thought and action, deeply rooted in Chinese culture, global in understanding and experience, and excellent in all endeavors.
Grounded in Chinese culture and with a global perspective, The ISF Academy focuses on instilling in its students core values that are drawn from Chinese heritage, but are updated to be relevant in today’s world.
The ISF Academy is an IB World School offering the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for Grade 6 to 10 and the IB Diploma Programme (DP) for Grade 11 and 12. The Academy is an accredited member of the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). It is registered as a Private Independent School with the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR Government.
The Class of 2012 was the first graduating cohort of the school and the first cohort to complete the IB Diploma Programme. We have maintained a 100% pass rate. In 2021, our average score was 40.2 with 9 students achieving perfect scores. Around 76% of our students achieve the prestigious bilingual diploma each year.
