The Legislative Research Commission (LRC) employs all legislative staff in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Permanent staff number 380, 320 of whom are nonpartisan staff under the supervision of the Director. During legislative sessions, up to 250 additional session staff are hired, bringing the size of the agency temporarily over 600. The agency has a cumulative budget of $59.4 million (in off-budget years) and $63.4 million (in budget years).
