AWAIC provides domestic violence safe shelter, intervention, and prevention to the Anchorage community. Our values are Advocacy, Compassion, Dignity, and Collaboration. Our primary service is the 67-bed, emergency shelter and 24-hour crisis line, 272-0100. However, AWAIC provides a continuum of services and housing options to those experiencing or have experienced domestic violence.
In addition to emergency shelter AWAIC has transitional housing and assistance to obtain safe, permanent housing. AWAIC has a prevention program that provides education, outreach, and groups to those in the community about domestic violence with an emphasis on youth.
AWAIC also provides services to those not using shelter or do not need to use shelter but need support. AWAIC provides safety planning, case management, personal support, crisis intervention, resources and referrals, and groups to all those we serve.
