We currently employ over 9000 hospital and community-based staff and cover one of the largest geographic areas of any NHS organisation in England, providing care to over 500,000 people in North Tyneside and Northumberland. Our teams deliver hospital and community health services in Northumberland and North Tyneside.
In 2015 we opened the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital - the first purpose-built hospital of its kind in England which is dedicated to emergency care. Our emergency medicine consultants are on site 24/7 and consultants in a range of specialties also work seven days a week, helping to speed up diagnosis and treatment and improve clinical outcomes for patients.
We also manage three main busy acute hospitals in Hexham, North Tyneside and Wansbeck and run seven smaller community hospitals and services in Alnwick, Berwick, Blyth, Haltwhistle, Morpeth, Rothbury and Wallsend.
As part of an ambitious £200 million programme of investment, all of our facilities are benefitting from ongoing re-development to provide modern state-of-the-art environments fit for delivering 21st century healthcare.
