Cullman City Parks and Recreation offers 5 recreation centers, 12 parks, and a golf course as well as over 100 programs, sports, classes, activities, and events for the community each year. The department is nationally recognized as one of the top recreation agencies in the country being named a top 4 department 3 years in a row from 2010-2012 by the National Recreation and Parks Association.
The department includes award winning facilities like the Cullman Wellness & Aquatic Center with over 13,000 members engaged in 50+ weekly fitness classes, a full workout and fitness area, an indoor pool, basketball gyms, and Wild Water Water Park that attracts over 30,000 visitors each summer to the facility. Other facilities include the Donald E. Green Senior Center featuring over 30 free weekly activities for seniors as well as trips across the country. The Cullman Gymnastics & Cheer Academy houses elite competition teams for gymnasts and cheerleaders as well as dozens of recreation gymnastics and tumble classes. The Festhalle Marketplatz hosts a weekly Farmer's Market from April through October on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturdays from 7am-2pm with extended hours for special events. The Cullman Civic Center is the perfect place for community meetings, conferences, and event rentals of all types.
Heritage Park is the largest park in our system with 5 softball fields, 5 soccer fields, outdoor basketball and sand volleyball courts, 3+ miles of walking trails, 2 playgrounds, a splash pad, and 18-hole disc golf course, a dog park with sections for large and small dogs, and outdoor fitness equipment located throughout the park. The Field of Miracles complex houses 3 additional softball fields as well as the Miracle Field. Neighborhood parks are scattered through the community with picnic areas, playgrounds, open spaces, softball fields, and more including Depot Park, Art Park, Steifelmeyer Park, East Side Park, Nesmith Park, Carroll Acres Park, Culpepper Park, and Ingle Park.
