Corporate Responsibility Driven by Our Values
With portfolio companies and investments spanning multiple industries, Koniag creates opportunities and sustainable growth to fund benefits to our Alutiiq Shareholders and their families. We are driven by our core values, incorporating corporate responsibility, our traditions, and Alutiiq culture into all we do.
Koniag is unique. Established in 1971 by Congress to settle aboriginal land claims in Alaska, Koniag is one of the 12 for-profit Alaska Native regional corporations representing the indigenous people of the Kodiak Island Archipelago. Owned by more than 4,500 Alutiiq Shareholders, Koniag’s social mission originated with our Alutiiq ancestors who have called our region home for thousands of years. Our values are a part of everything that we do—every engagement and investment decision is a reflection of our commitment to living our culture. When Koniag’s employees and customers thrive, the business is successful and offers educational scholarships, elder benefits, dividends, and other critical services for our Alutiiq Shareholders and their Descendants.
