The Department of Medicine is the largest department in the UCSF School of Medicine, with ~3,000 employees and a $650M annual budget. It has consistently ranked among the top three departments of medicine in the nation. In addition, it has been a top recipient of research dollars from the National Institutes of Health, with contracts and grants totaling more than $200 million.
