The Kenya National Cleaner Production Centre (KNCPC) was established in July 2000 as part of the global UNEP/UNIDO National Cleaner Production Centre program with a mission to To build national capacity for Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production application in enterprises through awareness creation, training, project implementation, and policy advice for increased enterprise productivity and sound environmental management.
KNCPC is mandated to promote the adoption of contemporary tools of environmental management in Kenyan industrial establishments and the related service sector. The tools currently being promoted by the Center include, but are not limited to:
1. Cleaner Production (CP)/Pollution Prevention (PP)/Waste Minimization (WM).
2. Environmental Audits (EA).
3. Energy Audits (EnA).
4. Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001).
5. Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Standard (OHSAS 18001 and 18002).
6. Fire and Safety Audits.
7. 5S Japanese Philosophy of Total Quality Environment.
GEMBA KAIZEN (Lean Manufacturing).
8. Environmental Performance Evaluation (EPE).
9. Environmental Cost Accounting (ECA).
10. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Life Cycle Design (LCD).
11. Corporate Environmental Reporting (CER).

Apart from the center offering training services in all the areas listed above, it also offers pre-packaged training services and tailored training sessions for its diverse clients.
