The European Union is represented in the United States by the Washington, D.C. Delegation, which works in close coordination with the Embassies and Consulates of the 27 EU Member States.
We are a full-fledged diplomatic mission and represent the European Union in dealings with the U.S. government in areas that are part of the EU’s remit.
We promote EU policies in the United States, which includes presenting and explaining EU actions to the U.S. Administration and Congress. By engaging with political actors, the media, academia, business, and civil society, we raise awareness of EU issues and concerns, and promote the importance of the EU-U.S. relationship among the American public.
Since 1964, the EU has also maintained an office in New York, serving as the EU’s Delegation to the United Nations.
