A new Australian peak body, the Student Educational Travel Organisation (SETO), has been established under the umbrella of the Council of Australian Tour Operators (CATO). The newly established not for profit company will lead the educational travel sector in areas of governance, advocacy, and education with a vision to accelerate education outside of the classroom, ensuring every student can access and benefit from experiential learning opportunities achieved through travel.
SETO has been set up to function as a conduit between the travel and education sectors incorporating specialist educational travel tour operators, suppliers, teachers, schools, and universities.
Governance
To assist in maintaining the highest possible product and service standards, SETO provides a forum for members to present their views and convene at regular meetings where members are updated on current issues and are able to raise subjects of mutual interest.
SETO members adhere to an established Code of Conduct for B2B activity and a formal Code of Ethics to consider in their dealings with schools, universities and the public.
Advocacy
SETO acts as a representative body for its members and will be in regular contact, lobbying both State and Federal Governments on issues directly related to the well-being of student educational travel.
Education
SETO provides members and key stakeholders with educational opportunities directly related to the student educational travel sector.
External education provides interested 3rd parties with a greater knowledge and understanding of this bespoke sector of the travel industry.
