Over the years, KenGen has been involved in Corporate Social Responsibility activities, specifically targeting communities living in areas neighboring the company’s installations.
This corporate effort has been driven by KenGen’s belief in adding value to the livelihoods of targeted communities through building and sustaining relationships with them. However, high impact corporate programs could not be effectively implemented due to limited financial resources and internal capacity.
It is to address this challenge that the company established a Foundation in 2012 to serve as the vehicle for up-scaling its corporate social investment (CSI) programs. KenGen Foundation began its operations in December 2012 following its registration in March 2012. It is run by a Managing Trustee and governed by a Board of Trustees.
Objectives of the Foundation
The key objectives of the Foundation are:
Maintaining KenGen’s existing Corporate Social Investment (CSI) projects and enabling their up-scaling for ensured long-term impact and sustainability
Developing and nurturing strategic partnerships that add value to the Foundation’s projects and work.
Mission: To work with communities to deliver sustainable programs that bring change.
Vision: Making a difference by enabling communities improve their livelihoods.
