Since its founding in 1948, Evergreen’s volunteer fire department has evolved from an organization of men dedicated to extinguishing fires to a cadre of men and women who respond to emergencies ranging from structure fires to drownings and crashes to wildfires. Evergreen is home to one of the largest volunteer fire departments in Colorado. Evergreen Fire Rescue offers non-emergency services to its community as well, including CPR courses, space for community meetings, participation in community events and station tours.
Our team consists of volunteers and pair staff providing around the clock emergency medical, rescue, and fire suppression services along with fire inspection and education to nearly 26,000 residents across more than 120 square miles.
Led by a Fire Chief and the Board of Directors of the Evergreen Fire Protection District, EFR consists of six divisions: Administration, Communications, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Fire Operations, Fire Prevention, and Maintenance. The personnel of each division are committed to providing exceptional service to its community of residents, business owners, employees and visitors.
