Porticus is a philanthropic organisation that aims to create a just and sustainable future where human dignity flourishes. We recognise that not all people are able to live with dignity. Our work aims to strengthen the resilience of communities so that all people have ownership over their future and natural resources are used in a sustainable way. Our work is realized through strong networks of partners including local and global NGOs, communities, people with lived experience, policy makers and co-funders.
We want systems to change in order to provide solutions to today’s social and environmental problems that benefit generations to come in four areas: the natural environment, societies, education and faith. Our work is led by the strategies of four priorities;
Strengthening our Societies – making sure all people have agency and the opportunity to contribute
Building Future Generations – strengthening social and emotional learning, especially for children in extreme adversity
Caring for the Earth – ensuring a fair transition to a sustainable future
Fostering Vital Faith Communities – fostering faith as a source of strength, particularly in Catholic communities
In addition, through our special entities Argidius and Community Arts Lab, we work on tackling poverty through strengthening the ecosystem for small business and stimulating social movements through arts.
