Barkal was founded in 1988 by Ron Beit David, a graduate of the Technion in Engineering and an MBA from the Hebrew University.
Since its inception, the company has been working to obtain a manufacturer's license for catering from the Ministry of Health's food service, making it the first kosher catering company in Jerusalem, which has institutionalized activity and is authorized by law and meets the requirements of the law and regulations of the Ministry of Health.
At Barkal, we already identified in our first year of activity the need to produce and supply meals to kindergartens and educational institutions. At that time, the meals in the kindergartens were cooked in the garden kitchens, and the delivery of meals from the outdoor catering company was unacceptable. Following the request of the Givat Ze'ev Regional Council, we began to provide about 300 meals a day to the 15 kindergartens in the council. From that time, we began to specialize in the provision of meals for children, while preparing recipes and menus adapted to children in terms of taste, variety and nutritional needs.
In addition to its activities in Jerusalem, the company has developed an additional branch of institutional, governmental and public kitchens throughout the country in educational institutions and therapeutic institutions supervised by the Ministry of Welfare. This activity strengthened the company's professional and logistical capabilities in a variety of catering areas.
After ten years of activity in a variety of catering projects, Barkal has chosen to focus on providing quality, fresh, nutritious and healthy meals for schools and kindergartens, community centers, clubs, and daycare centers. The company provides a nutritional solution to hundreds of educational institutions and is repeatedly awarded, year after year, to Ministry of Education tenders, which attests to excellence, quality, and satisfaction with its activities.
