University Hospital Center of São João (UHCSJ) is the third largest Portuguese Hospital and a reference in the northern part of the country. It includes the polo of Porto and the polo of Valongo and has a workforce of more than 5000 workers.
It is tied to the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, enabling it to excel on account of the remarkable research and teaching processes developed therein.
For many specialties and areas of medical know-how, UHCSJ is the last instance and reference in the country in terms of diagnosis and treatment.
It has about 1100 beds and more than 50 medical and surgical specialties and also has a variety of complementary means of diagnosis and therapeutic support.
