In its twelve years of operation, Sommer Contemporary Art has been committed to promoting Israeli artists on the international scene through ongoing ties with local galleries and major art institutions, and to bringing leading international artists to the local audience. Sommer Contemporary Art is distinguished by its rich relationships as we work hard to develop, grow and support each artist over time. As one of the most established contemporary art galleries in the region, our aim is to continue supporting public art and engage with the community while also creating a meeting point for artistic exchanges, experimentations and dialogues/discussions. Sommer is involved in the more public aspect of the Israeli art scene. For the past 3 years we operated our project room "S2" where we give young curators the opportunity to curate small-scale exhibitions of emerging art. Through this initiative we aim to support the curatorial role and to allow for diverse theoretical discourses within the gallery compounds. The gallery is also one of the initiators of ArtTLV, the international biennial of Tel-Aviv, drawing a wide range of international art professionals. ArtTLV brings Israel's remarkably vibrant cultural life and its intense creative scene to the attention of local and international artists, curators and art lovers.
