Pakiv Romania Association, is a non-profit civic organization founded in October 2005, based on Ordinance 26/2000, on the regime of associations and foundations in Romania. The founding members of the organization are Roma activists, with extensive experience in developing and implementing projects/programs addressed to Roma communities, in conducting analysis/studies/research reflecting the situation of Roma communities, with experience in conducting and implementing information and awareness campaigns for members of Roma communities, with experience in delivering adult education sessions, with experience in implementing lobbying and advocacy campaigns, etc.
Pakiv Romania believes that the Roma population in Romania is facing an aggressive pattern of social exclusion. The approach to the Roma issue must be comprehensive and not only focus on the effects. Pakiv Romania team members realised that a different approach to Roma issues is needed, a perspective focused on Roma social inclusion.
Pakiv Romania's mission is to improve the situation of members of Roma communities in Romania.
The declared values of the organisation are: professionalism in the activities carried out, respect towards the collaborators and the beneficiaries of the organisation's work, integrity and honesty, persuasiveness and perfectionism, hard work and efficiency.
Pakiv Romania's main areas of interest are the analysis and development of public policies, as well as strategies and interventions in Roma communities in order to improve the socio-economic situation of members of this minority. Pakiv Romania also has a special interest in promoting social inclusion, behaviour change and community development of disadvantaged groups in Romania
