The International Tax Compact (ITC) aims at enhancing domestic revenue mobilisation (DRM) by promoting fair, efficient and transparent tax systems for sustainable development in partner countries. It fosters networking, peer learning and capacity development bringing together a large number of stakeholders – policymakers as well as representatives from academia, civil society organisations and the private sector working in the field of taxation and development.
The International Tax Compact hosts the secretariats of two international initiatives: the Addis Tax Initiative (www.addistaxinitiative.net) and the Network of Tax Organisations (www.nto.tax).
The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) launched the platform in 2009 and commissioned Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) to host the ITC Secretariat. It is co-funded by the European Union (EU) since 2022.
