safefood is the all island agency promoting healthy eating and food safety to consumers through integrated, evidence-based marketing and awareness campaigns.
Established in 1999 as an implementation body under the Good Friday Agreement, safefood’s activities also include:
• Commissioning research in both food safety and nutrition.
• Developing networks, enhancing knowledge transfer and promoting co-operation among those in academia, research, food industry and health professionals.
• Developing and distributing innovative, curriculum-based free education resources for pre-school, primary and post-primary sectors
• Acting as an independent source of scientific advice.
• Working in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders.
Our staff are drawn from a wide range of backgrounds including microbiology, toxicology, nutrition, public health, marketing and corporate governance.
