Iqbal is a regular speaker on telecoms issues and has featured in The Scotsman and on BBC Radio. He spoke at the launch of IoT Scotland where he said IoT has the power to boost Scotland’s economy by GBP 4-11 billion per year.
He wrote a comprehensive report on 5G on behalf of the International Telecommunications Union who refer to Iqbal as an expert. In addition, Iqbal has advised prominent Cities, local authorities and train operating companies on attracting infrastructure investment in the Internet of Things, full fibre, WiFi and 4G/5G services while navigating new Electronic Communications Code and State-aid legislation.
Iqbal has supported investors develop the commercial case to invest in resilient subsea fibre connectivity to Scotland. He also works extensively across Africa and Asia advising investors and has advised development banks to improve 4G connectivity in rural areas.
In the past Iqbal led the UK’s largest fibre-in-the-sewers project, supported authorities with connection voucher schemes, undertaken value for money studies for the Scottish Government and advised investors on multi-million fibre and FWA transactions.
