SOS Children’s Villages Romania is a non-profit organization devoted to help vulnerable families care for their children. When children have lost their parental support, we provide quality alternative care in SOS families.
We operate in Romania through 4 programs in Bucharest, Sibiu (Cisnadie), Brasov and Bacau, through which we raise children without families, as well as supporting children at risk of being separated from their biological families. More than 150 children are provided alternative care in 30 Family Houses and 3 Youths’ Facilities (a specialized life skills program) and over 850 children are being helped every year to grow up in their own families.
We have a unique approach, focusing on the development of each child or young person over the long term – including their care, health and education – so that they can face life’s challenges in the future.
Also, we actively promote and stand up for children‘s rights, through advocacy programs.
