Located in the heart of the city, St Albans School has a rich heritage dating back to 948AD, making it one of the UK's most prestigious independent Senior Schools. We welcome boys at 11+ and 13+, with co-educational entry at 16+ for both boys and girls.
While we take pride in our over 1,000-year legacy, we are equally focused on the future, preparing students to thrive in an ever-changing world. St Albans School is a dynamic, forward-thinking institution where tradition meets innovation.
With a student body of just over 900, we place the highest importance on the wellbeing of each individual. Our mission is to support every pupil’s intellectual and personal growth, nurturing self-awareness, confidence, and a strong sense of purpose. In our warm, inclusive community, each pupil is known, valued, and given the tools to flourish.
Academically, our students achieve exceptional results. In 2024, 32% of A Levels were awarded the top A* grade, and over a third of our entry gained at least 2 A* grades. At GCSE, over 1 in 5 pupils achieved 10 9-8 grade GCSEs, and 68% of examinations taken were awarded grades 9-8, with 87% awarded grades 9-7.
Yet, we believe that education goes far beyond exam results. We are committed to cultivating values, personal qualities, and life skills, encouraging independent, innovative thinkers. Our students progress to leading universities, particularly those within the Russell Group. Recent graduates have gone on to study at institutions such as Oxford, Cambridge, Bath, Bristol, Durham, Edinburgh, Exeter, Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham, UCL, and more.
