Hayley (founder of BEAR) named her company BEAR after an article she read in January 2009 that sounded all too familiar. The article studied and compared bears that had drifted into cities to forage from behind junk food joints and those who continued to eat in the wild as nature intended. The city bears were 30% more overweight, 30% less active and all deceased by the age of 10, while over 60% of their wild bear counterparts, who were eating salmon and berries, lived on healthfully. This felt like a perfect representation of everything that Hayley wanted to help change. Through BEAR, we're helping to get people back to eating as nature intended.
