he Mille Lacs County Attorney serves as legal counsel to the Mille Lacs County Board and county departments, as well as serving as the chief law enforcement official for Mille Lacs County.
The County Attorney's Office handles civil matters such as tax appeals, real estate purchases, and probate matters, as well as child protection, child support, paternity, and civil forfeiture actions. The County Attorney's Office also has seven full-time prosecutors in addition to the County Attorney, covering misdemeanor to felony level prosections on crimes and juvenile delinquencies occurring throughout the county, including State law violations committed on the land held in trust by the U.S. government for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe.
The County Attorney does not represent individual county citizens, but works on behalf of all county residents through the county government.
