Established in 2005 as an independent research organization, the Development and Policies Research Center (DEPOCEN) has gained its reputation among the development and policy researches and consultancy community with its wide range of socioeconomic issues, including poverty analysis, macroeconomic policies, business and investment environment, market research, trade liberalization, governance, gender equality, project M&E and impact evaluation (both quasi-experimental and randomization approach).
DEPOCEN has developed partnerships and cooperation with many Vietnamese and international research institutions such as Oxford Economics (UK) and the Korean Institute of Economic Policy (South Korea), the University of Lancaster, the Institute of Development Studies, Centre d’Economie de la Sorbonne-CES, Maison des Sciences Economiques, and the Policy Studies Institute. Since 2008, DEPOCEN has hosted the Vietnam Economist Annual Meeting (http://veam.org), which has now gained international reputation with the participation of many professors and researchers around the world.
Frequently, we also conduct training courses on survey methods covering sampling techniques, questionnaire design, interviewing techniques and statistical analysis. A number of online training materials on survey data analysis techniques can be found in the training section of the DEPOCEN website (http://www.depocen.org; http://vidac.org).
DEPOCEN has provided quality services and consultation for many international organizations in Vietnam, such as the World Bank, IFAD, British Council, UNDP, UNICEF, UN WOMEN, DFID, NUFFIC, Oxfam Great Britain, Oxfam Belgium, Belgian Technical Cooperation, etc. We also have cooperated and provided service to many important ministries and state agencies, for example the National Assembly Office, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Labor - Invalid and Social Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Education and Training, and Ministry of Plan and Investment.
