The David Rumsey Map Center is a research and educational center that believes historic maps are an intrinsic part of our cultural heritage. We are interested in the ways people across time and around the world have made sense of their lives and environments through maps and diagrams. Maps can help us understand the history of our spaces, analyze the complexity of our lives, challenge the idea of scientific neutrality, and visualize new possibilities. We are dedicated to developing a diverse collection, digitizing and sharing it with the public, inspiring new research, creating educational programs, and producing exhibitions.
