Turkish Ministry of Customs and Trade is a government agency responsible for collecting and safeguarding customs duties, for controlling the flow of goods including animals, transports, personal effects and hazardous items in and out of the country, for fighting against smuggling and investigate the smuggling cases. After combining with the trade related services of the ex-Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2011 June, the agency resumes also the responsibility for developing new policies, plans, programmes and strategies in the fields of trade and for taking the measurements to secure consumers’ rights and to create consciousness for them.
