Dome Software helps clients compete by building robust software ecosystems.
Sometimes we improve an ecosystem by creating one strong, custom app that we introduce into a client's existing set of operational software. Other times we take an ailing piece of legacy code and doctor it until it thrives. And once in a while we engineer an ecosystem wholesale: we take a top-down survey of a client's software tools, then prune and patch and plant until the whole thing works smoothly and its users are happy.
But why is tending software ecosystems a thing we care about?
Well, people spend a lot of time -- most of their waking lives, really -- at work. And as time goes on, more and more of that work environment is made of bits and bytes.
Do the apps you're required to use every day make it easy to get your job done, or do they make it harder? Are people allowed to do things that people are good at, and computers used to do the things that computers are good at? In short, does a software environment make its users feel safe and happy, or frustrated and unproductive?
Our privilege at Dome is to be invited into people's workspaces, to be asked to observe how their tools and internal processes fit together, and to be allowed to change things in ways that will make people happier. Every day.
