The origin of Tourism Group International reads like a boy’s book. For ages, the city of Amsterdam is known for its entrepreneurial spirit and hard work. This mentality fits Erik de Visser, founder of our company, like a glove. Erik started working in tourism as a 13-year-old boy in the center of Amsterdam. Taking pictures of tourists on his parents’ canal cruise and selling tickets at the dock.
In 1983 the company Tours & Tickets was established. With his can-do mentality, Erik de Visser grew the business from a small local start-up to the leader in Urban Tourism in the Netherlands. In 2012 he joined forces with entrepreneur Henk Philip. Together they built a strong organization that includes ticketing, nautical, attraction, museum, excursion and hospitality activities. With omnichannel consumer touchpoints and well-rated brand experiences.
Tourism Group International now sells over 4,5 million tickets on a yearly basis through ticket offices, online channels, attraction box office, PDA’s (handheld sales), shop-in-shops and partner platforms.
