The Hospital of God is a charity based in the North East of England who have a long and proud history of working with vulnerable people living in the North East of England. Established in 1273 to help poor and elderly people, we have taken this founding ethos and developed into a modern organisation meeting a range of 21st century needs.
Our charity delivers a range of services for people living with dementia and their families. These include: a nursing home; residential home; 4 day centres; 1:1 community based support; carer support; advice and information and a whole host of free events and activities to promote social inclusion.
In addition to our services, we also provide almshouses for people over the age of 60. These are based around Stockton and our village, Greatham, which lies on the outskirts of Hartlepool. We also own a number of private properties in the village that are available at commerical rates.
The Hospital of God is also a grant making body for charitable organisations based in the North East of England. Our grant making facilities means that every year we give approximately £90,000 local organisations who work with disadvantaged people. We have in total given over £1million in grants, all of which has been used to support people living in the ancient diocese of Durham.
