The Institute for Futures Studies is an independent research foundation for interdisciplinary research on issues that are of great importance for how we shape our future society.
Our current research program “Which future? Challenges and choices for the 21st century” comprises five overlapping themes. They are all interdisciplinary and involves researchers from several disciplines, including philosophy, political science, sociology, law, computer science, economics and demographics. The intention is to produce policy-relevant results by combining theoretical ideas with empirically oriented research. The themes are "Our responsibility towards future generations", "Democracy in the 21st century", "New technologies and the future of humanity", "Discrimination, sexism and racism" and "Equality".
