Warm modernism. Crafting timeless architecture for living well.
Since its inception, Assembledge+ has steadfastly pursued an architectural vision rooted in a dedication to collaborative efforts and craftsmanship.
Founded and spearheaded by David Thompson, AIA, the name Assembledge+ was purposefully chosen to encapsulate the firm's zeal for "assembling" the often intricate components of the design process. This results in an architecture that is timeless, attuned to its environment, and uplifts the human spirit. The "+" symbolizes an approach that utilizes the comprehensive interplay of interconnected elements, recognizing that architecture transcends mere drawings and an assembly of building materials. It encompasses a collaborative journey with clients, specialized consultants, builders, and, of course, the team members. It also entails an ongoing exploration and innovation—both programmatic and technological—to pursue optimal, tailored solutions for each project.
Our design journey embarks with fundamental questions: What is the purpose and vision? What are the aspirations? A meticulous analysis underpins these dialogues, encompassing the site—the property, the adjacent community, and the client's unique needs and aspiration. Our body of work is often characterized as embodying "warm modernism," a design language emphasizing clear forms, a celebration of natural light, and a foundational material palette including western cedar, oak, concrete, glass, and terrazzo.
The creation of lasting environments, developed with a sense of responsibility, stands as a defining aspect of the firm's design ethos. This is achieved through the implementation of sustainable strategies, the crafting of adaptable sequences of highly functional enclosed and open spaces, and the dissolution of boundaries between interior and exterior realms.
Over the years, our work has been featured in Architectural Digest, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Dezeen, Dwell, Interior Design, and Lu
