Wheelchairs for Kids Australia was established in 1996 by the Scarborough Rotary Club, whose members answered the life-changing call for help to provide wheelchairs for children with disabilities in less developed countries.
We believe in the transformative gift of mobility and are committed to creating a world where every child who needs a wheelchair can get one, in turn providing children everywhere with access to the basic building blocks for a better life.
Over the past 25 years Wheelchairs for Kids Australia has built and distributed over 55,000 wheelchairs to more than 80 countries free of charge.
We operate with a unique volunteer workforce. More than 250 regular volunteers attend our factory based in Perth, Western Australia, to assemble our wheelchairs and work in the office, while another 300+ work from home crocheting, knitting and sewing individual knee rugs and toys.
We rely on the generous support of donors, sponsors and volunteers to fulfil our mission:
To make a difference to the lives of mobility impaired children and their families around the world and to continue to build a community of volunteers who have both purpose and camaraderie.
Whether you would like to organise a fundraiser, join us as a corporate partner, make a donation today or become a regular giver, there are many
ways you can get involved – each one increasing our capacity to change the lives of children with disabilities all over the world.
