Established in 1810, Plain Township today is home to thriving businesses, peaceful neighborhoods, great parks, and excellent schools. Plain Township is governed by three elected Trustees who oversee all township functions and services. The Township Administrator, who is appointed by the Trustees, oversees the day to day business of the township government. An elected Township Fiscal Officer is responsible for all township financial accounts and transactions.
The Plain Township Fire Department serves all areas of the township including the City of New Albany. In addition to fire and EMS services, the Fire Department is responsible for fire safety and prevention efforts, including fire code enforcement, community outreach and education programs. The Plain Township Aquatic Center is the only community pool open to the public. The Aquatic Center also hosts events and community groups including the Plain Township Gators youth swimming and diving team.
