York Drug Science Society, previously the Psychedelics Society is a multidisciplinary society dedicated to educating and advocating for the medical research, safe use, science and surrounding history and culture of psychedelic and psychoactive substances. Psychedelics are a cure for nothing but can be a tool for almost anything. They are a mystery we're nowhere near to understanding, despite ancient human use. There is overwhelming evidence that they have unique healing potential, by enabling connection to the self, to others, to life itself and to the mystical. Used properly, psychedelics could thus be a powerful tool for the biggest crises of our times, from mental health, tribalism, and the environment, to a lack of meaning. York Drug Science Society provides a space for research and discussion about some of the most extraordinary things we know of.
We are an academic society interested in the science of psychedelics and psychoactives; we don't encourage recreational or experimental use, and we don't downplay the risks.
