The Action Foundation (TAF) is an award winning, youth-led organization that was established in 2010 and registered by The Non-Governmental Organizations Coordination Board of Kenya. TAF works with communities, organizations, local and national government bodies to end exclusion, discrimination and violence towards children, women and girls with disabilities in marginalized areas.
Children with disabilities are among Kenya’s most vulnerable group due to stigma, discrimination, poor parent-child interactions, institutionalization and lack of support. They are often perceived as less valuable than other children and are more likely to experience violence in their lifetime.
Our experience working in rural and slum communities has found that women and girls with disability face multiple and interlinked challenges in realizing their full potential, in regard to education, sexual reproductive health, voice, agency and economic empowerment.
TAF specifically works with and alongside children with disability and their caregivers, adolescent girls and women in urban & rural informal settlements in Kenya
