Akwa Ibom State Government Gender Based Violence (AKSGBV) Management Committee is a non-profit organization founded by the Akwa Ibom State Government in response to the high incidence of Gender Based Violence in Akwa Ibom and across Nigeria.
We invest in women, men, young and old in a gender-responsive manner through participatory approaches for the sustainable development of the State.
We provide advisory, support, and advocacy services to people in Akwa Ibom communities through our frontline services. We publish research into abuse and violent experiences to highlight our community's needs. We work to influence policy and improve outcomes for people who experience abuse and violence.
We offer bespoke specialist training and prevention programs in all aspects of sexual violence to both statutory and voluntary agencies as well as private companies.
We provide a range of training and awareness workshops to multi-agency professionals, challenging the myths around rape and childhood sexual abuse, developing an understanding of the impacts of sexual violence and best practices in responding to disclosures
We understand how difficult it is to take the first step, but when a person feels ready, we are here to help. Gender-Based Violence is never the victim’s fault. We offer confidential and independent support, while also providing opportunities and creating space and conditions for personal growth, development, and fulfillment.
Distance doesn’t diminish our love. We use our diverse and collective voice to create an Akwa Ibom State free from sexual and domestic violence—inspiring others to join and support values of equality, respect, and shared power.
