ETEL was founded in 1985 by Etel Carmona, a self-taught designer who, in the 1980s, while restoring period furniture in her country house, discovered and fell in love with incredibly lovely national woods and pieces of unparalleled construction, unveiled under the layers of paint and varnish.
A pioneer in sustainability awareness, ETEL was the first Brazilian manufacturer to receive the prestigious seal of the Forest Stewardship Council (©FSC), and their attention to details and highly skilled craftsmanship, quickly gathered respect and admiration from iconic designers and foundations, comprising today one century of Brazilian furniture.
With its pioneering re-edition work, ETEL brings back, in close collaboration with the designer, designer family or Foundations; the designs of the modern Brazilian production, contributing to the rescue and preservation of Brazilian design history.
