The Queen’s Social Investment Initiative (QS2I) is the first university-based impact investing organization in Canada, with a mission of funding social enterprises, and creating a positive social impact globally. Each year, we actively engage students, corporations, and faculty members through the management of a student-run portfolio of credit investments with $25,000 in assets, professional research reports & presentations, as well as with social venture competitions.
Our flagship event is the Symposium on Social Finance, a conference focused on impact investing and social entrepreneurship that attracts delegates and faculty from the Smith School of Business, as well as the Economics and Global Development Studies departments at Queen’s University. This event also attracts the country’s leading social enterprises, federal and provincial ministries of the Canadian government, as well as corporations in the impact investing and development finance space –past partners include TD, RBC, BMO, Deloitte, MaRS Centre for Impact Investing, Sarona Asset Management, and Grand Challenges Canada.
As an organization we also work closely with the Smith School of Business’ Centre for Social Impact on a variety of initiatives, and are recognized as the leading student-led resource for education and engagement at Queen’s University.
