ALU LIKE, Inc. is a nonprofit organization for Native Hawaiians. We have assisted Native Hawaiians in their efforts to achieve social and economic self-sufficiency for over 40 years. Incorporated in 1975 as a private, non-profit service organization, ALU LIKE, Inc. remains committed to the vision and mission of our founders.
ALU LIKE, a term used frequently in Hawaii during the 1800s (as reflected in the earlier Hawaiian language newspapers and revived for this special program) means “striving (working) together”. We received our name from Kupuna Mary Kawena Pukui, and our motto:
"E alu like mai kākou, e nā`ōiwi o Hawai`i" "Let us work together natives of Hawai`i"
from Kupuna Edith Kanakaole. ALU LIKE Inc. continues to support the forward movement of Native Hawaiians in today’s ever-changing world. ALU LIKE, Inc. has 238 employees and offices located throughout the State of Hawai`i.
