Pump Aid is a UK registered international non-governmental organisation that's core purpose is the delivery of affordable, appropriate and sustainable technologies to meet the water and sanitation needs of rural communities in sub-Saharan Africa.
Currently many rural communities are forced to drink water from rivers, lakes and open, unprotected wells, where the water is left vulnerable to contamination from waterborne diseases and is often many kilometres from home. Pump Aid strives to help rural communities access clean water, which exists as little as 2-3 metres underground in some areas. Since 1998 Pump Aid has worked in Zimbabwe, Liberia and Malawi to deliver over 9,500 Elephant Pump water projects, transforming the lives of more than 1.35 million people.
Pump Aid has technical expertise in well digging and deepening, sustainability, construction and installation of low-cost hand pump called Elephant Pump and training of beneficiaries in pump installation, maintenance and repair.
Alongside our technical expertise Pump Aid also has over 19 years experience working with corporate partners. The impact we have on the ground is significant and sustainable so brands know that by supporting Pump Aid they are leaving a legacy they can be proud of.
