It is rare that the origins of a great wine can be traced back to a precise time and place in history. This is the case of Brunello di Montalcino which was spun from the creative genius of Clemente Santi, who pursued the pioneering vision of producing a pure Sangiovese wine in Montalcino in the mid Nineteenth Century. It was his nephew Ferruccio Biondi Santi, who produced the first official vintage of Brunello di Montalcino Riserva at Tenuta Greppo in 1888.
Since then, the history and fame of Biondi-Santi and that of Brunello di Montalcino have gone hand in hand, while the winery has remained safe under the guide of such talented winemakers as Tancredi Biondi Santi and his son Franco.
Today, like yesterday, Biondi-Santi continues its dedication to crafting wines which carry the signature of a special place, Tenuta Greppo, sporting a natural elegance and an exceptional longevity.
