Carney's Community gets disadvantaged and excluded young people off the street and away from a life of crime and despair by giving them skills, discipline and self respect.
Our approach is unusual and particularly resource intensive but ultimately effective because we recognise that creating lasting change takes time, hard work and dedication.
At Carney’s Community, a young person builds a trusting relationship with a single consistent person; this relationship lasts as long as the young person needs; and the mentoring is taken up by the young person when they want it and are motivated to make changes in their lives.
Our work reduces offending, re-offending and anti-social behaviour, whilst improving social mobility and community cohesion. Consequently we improve the quality of life for the communities we serve.
Carney’s Community is inspired by boxing legend Mick Carney who motivated and turned around many lives through engagement with boxing.
