The Sun Records Label first began to appear on records in the 1950s, featuring songs by new recording artists whose names soon became legends, and whose electrifying sound revolutionized the music industry: Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison, and many more. Inevitably, Sun Records became a legend all its own: it is, after all, where rock ‘n’ roll was born.
In 1969, Mercury Records label producer Shelby Singleton purchased the Sun label from Sam Phillips and moved the company to Nashville, TN where it has been operating since.
