We are the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM), an organisation funded by the Department for Education (DfE) that aims to improve maths teaching in state schools across England. We want pupils of all ages to really understand maths and all its interconnections. And retain that understanding, not just so they pass tests and exams, but because that will benefit them in life—for ever.
We do this by supporting the ongoing professional development of teachers—primary and secondary. The NCETM coordinates all the CPD activities run by the network of 40 Maths Hubs in England and produces high quality resources to complement the work.
We’re not a big organisation: around 40 people, mostly former teachers, spread all over England, united in #ThePowerOfMaths.
