The Centre for Science of Student Learning is a Not for Profit with a mission to improve the way our children learn by building capacity to measure learning through high quality assessments & conducting research into the science of student learning.
CSSL strives to be a truly meritocratic environment where innovation and entrepreneurship are valued and celebrated. We supply and implement new ideas to the education sector, drawing from a deep base of knowledge that cuts across multiple fields like cognitive and affective sciences, psychometrics, gender perspectives, statistics, mathematical modelling and economics.
CSSL is a unique HYBRID model between an institution for learning, research and implementation. The closest analogy is a Medical College Hospital where one would get a theoretical grounding of the science and also get hands-on-practise for developing the art. CSSL strives to achieve this by
1. Building Assessment Capacity- Systemic, Institutional, and Individual
2. Research into Science of Student Learning
3. Building Open Source Tools
What we are striving for is a fundamental shift in the behaviour of stakeholders in the system to approach learning diagnostically and to build insights into the learning process. We believe that behavioural shift is aided by conducive external conditions, one of which is the availability and accessibility to resources that supports the new behaviour. Our open resources and tools will add strength to the cause of diagnostic measurement of learning and drive data based decision making in the classroom.
CSSL's team of experts have experience of building large scale diagnostic assessment tools in multiple languages, executing data collection and analysing more than 15 million students' data across South Asia, researching on student cognitive and affective learning, impact evaluation, randomised control trials, cross sectional and longitudinal surveys in government and private schools.
