İTÜ Development Foundation Schools were founded in 1999, and started academically in the year 2000. Dr. Natuk Birkan Private Elementary School got their own building in 2002, after sharing the same building with Private Dr. Sedat Üründül Kindergarten. The last ring of the chain, Ekrem Elginkan Private High School was established on the İTÜ campus in 2005. In 2011, a kindergarten and a primary school established in Beylerbeyi Campus.
The vision of İTÜ Development Foundation Schools is to educate individuals who can access knowledge; think creatively and independently, and question traditional ways. They are those who have acquired efficient and effective study habits; are art and humanity sensitive; and are respectful to ethical values, principled and self-confident.
The mission of İTÜ Development Foundation Schools is:
-To provide students with opportunities to use tools to access knowledge in various forms.
-To plan activities in which students learn to enjoy the educational process,
-To create an environment to use creative and critical thinking skills.
-To provide a rich learning environment for developing and nourishing an aesthetic perception.
-To implement activities that help students develop sensitivity for all living beings in their physical and social environment, especially for themselves.
-To create educational situations in which students are encouraged to recognize and respect national ethical values as well as universal values.
