Aurcana Corporation is a Canadian company listed on the TSX Venture Exchange. Aurcana owns the past-producing Shafter silver mine located in S.W. Texas.
The Shafter property is located 375 km from El Paso, in Presidio County, southwest Texas, a historic mining district.. The mine has excellent infrastructure, both in terms of year-round access via a paved highway and recently upgraded utility power.
Aurcana purchased Shafter in 2008 and following a detailed technical review and feasibility study the project was selected to become the Company's second producing operation. Construction and development of the property started in late 2011 but was halted in December 2013 without reaching full capacity. Though substantially built, the project is on care and maintenance pending more favorable silver bullion prices.
Aurcana has recently completed an updated resource estimate for Shafter and completed a preliminary economic assessment of the project
Aurcana remains committed to becoming a significant silver miner despite the economic downturn our sector has been experiencing. We continue with our environmental monitoring , site upkeep, and re-development planning while managing costs and maintaining market share.
