Global Shore Opportunities is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the people of Guatemala through education and community development initiatives. Through child sponsorship and partnership with Guatemalan teachers we support quality, Christian education for 320 students from El Tizate and the surrounding areas (near Antigua). We run short-term trips to Guatemala, hosting schools, churches and any assortment of volunteer organizations. We host a summer discipleship program where young adults work on an asparagus farm in Ontario for two months before coming and volunteering in Guatemala for two months. Our English department is staffed by Canadian teachers who make a one-year commitment to our school. We have built several houses in our town of El Tizate for families in need. We are connected with a local church network and volunteer with local pastors, running after-school programs in communities surrounding local churches.
