WFTO Europe is one of the regional chapters of the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO). There are four other regional offices: COFTA in Africa, WFTO-Asia, WFTO-LA in Latin America, and WFTO-Pacific in North America and the Pacific Rim. The WFTO global office is based in The Netherlands. WFTO-Europe supports the growth and consolidation of the global organisation by protecting the values of Fair Trade in Europe and advocating for Fair Trade policies. WFTO global has over 450 members and 81 of them are in Europe. WFTO and its regional chapters were born as a pertinent response to the extraordinary issues of our time: the ineptitude of global bodies to impact the imbalance in trade, the difficulties of governments and businesses to tackle climate change and the failure of the financial system. WFTO’s European Office represents European Fair Trade groups and promotes their cooperation and effectiveness. At WFTO-Europe, we strive to support the work of some of the most fragile businesses by representing them at every point of the commercial process. We create better trading conditions by opening markets to impoverished producers and offering them more reasonable prices. We promote and organise fair trade practices, producers, vendors, and policies by shedding light on the role of Fair Trade in fighting poverty, hunger and economic inequality.
